British Values
Why we teach British Values and why they are important..........
Schools teach British Values to help children grow into responsible, respectful, and active members of society. These values include democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect, and tolerance of different faiths and beliefs.
By understanding these principles, children learn to respect others, participate in their communities, and contribute to a positive and fair society. Teaching British Values also prepares students for life in modern Britain, where diversity is celebrated and everyone is encouraged to make informed, fair, and respectful decisions.

When we understand our own values, other people’s values, the values influencing society and the values affecting our environment, we are better able to choose and skillfully and consistently apply appropriate values within different contexts, thereby positively impacting real-life situations.
The British Values taught in schools are:

-
Democracy: Understanding how decisions are made collectively and valuing everyone's voice.

-
The Rule of Law: Respecting laws and understanding their importance in protecting individuals and society.

-
Individual Liberty: Encouraging personal freedom and the ability to make choices, while understanding responsibilities.

-
Mutual Respect: Valuing and showing respect for others, regardless of differences.

-
Tolerance : Accepting and appreciating cultural and religious diversity in society.
How do INWS embed British Values?
Each month we concentrate on one particular British Value. This is then explicitly taught in every subject across the curriculum. We use stickers oon the front of books to ensure all our students can recall the British Values.
